Kingfisher is an original watercolor celebrating the extraordinary color and character of one of my favorite birds to paint.
I wanted the kingfisher to be the unmistakable focus of the piece, using vivid blues and warm rusty oranges against a loose, understated background. Soft washes, splashes of color and plenty of untouched white paper give the painting a light, spontaneous feel while allowing the detail and personality of the bird to shine through.
The original remains in my personal collection and is not available for purchase, but professionally produced fine art prints are available.
