Original Watercolor by Clare L Jones
A vibrant koi moves gracefully through layers of brilliant blue and turquoise in Koi in Motion, an expressive original watercolor filled with color, movement and energy.
Loose, fluid washes suggest the movement of water, while flashes of red, gold and silvery blue define the koi and contrast beautifully against the aquatic background. Delicate linework and shimmering bubble details add another layer of movement, creating the impression of the fish gliding through rippling water.
I love the freedom of watercolor in this piece — allowing the pigments to flow and mingle naturally helped create the sense of constantly moving water around the more defined form of the koi.
Presented in a bold orange mat that picks up the warm tones within the fish, Koi in Motion is a colorful, one-of-a-kind original with a fresh, contemporary feel.
