Winter’s Quiet
Original Watercolor by Clare L Jones
A peaceful winter landscape captured beneath a gentle fall of snow, Winter’s Quiet depicts a secluded farmhouse surrounded by snow-covered trees, with the soft glow of winter light filtering through the distant woodland.
Layers of cool blue-grey washes create a wonderful sense of depth and stillness, while touches of warm yellow and ochre break through the muted winter palette. Delicate details in the trees, buildings and falling snow bring the landscape to life while retaining the softness and spontaneity of watercolor.
I wanted this painting to capture that particular stillness that comes with freshly fallen snow — when the landscape seems quieter, softer and almost untouched.
Presented in a classic white mat that allows the subtle winter colors to take center stage, Winter’s Quiet is a tranquil, one-of-a-kind original celebrating the quiet beauty of a snowy landscape.
